From installation to a first useful page
Choose the product for the result you need: compose a native page with Modularis, set global presentation with Thematis, or create a derived theme with Derivis. Each can be used independently.
Choose one result
You do not need all three Gravister products. Start with the task you want to complete; the repositories and current candidates are private. Use an internally supplied, verified Direct Install package when you have access. This page offers no public download and makes no commitment about a future public distribution model. Source archives are for development, not ordinary installation.
Modularis: build your first modular page
Prerequisites: Grav ≥2.2.13, PHP ≥8.3, Admin2 ≥2.2.0, API ≥1.1.0 and Login ≥3.11.0 with its native dependencies. Your account needs the relevant Modularis permissions. Back up Pages and configuration before changing a valuable site. Thematis and Derivis are not required; keep a compatible active theme.
- Install the authorized Modularis Direct Install candidate through Admin2 → Tools → Direct Install. Confirm that Modularis is enabled and its application opens.
- In Modularis → Launch Packs, choose an Available pack, review its fixed unused target and install it. Do not replace an existing site to try a demo.
- Find the installed page tree in native Pages. Edit one Text section or another section's text/media, save and open the published page.
- In Page Composer, select the modular parent and move a recognized section. Check the frontend again. Content belongs to Pages; Composer controls composition and order. Design Kit is an explicit component-level appearance choice, not a replacement for the active theme.
Your first result is an editable native page with a deliberate section order. A plugin update does not synchronize installed Launch Packs. Before an explicit Reinstall, review Changes and back up your edits, media and translations; replacement can discard them.
Thematis: set the presentation of the whole site
Use Thematis when you need its site identity, header, navigation, page frame and footer. You need a working Grav 2 site, the authorized theme package and permission to manage themes. Modularis and Derivis are optional.
- Install the internally supplied Thematis package and explicitly select the theme when you intend to use it; installing this Launch Pack does not activate it.
- In native Theme Settings, set the site presentation and header composition, then view the same native page.
- Check the header, navigation and footer as well as the page body. Keep component exceptions separate from global theme settings. The optional desktop sticky header remains disabled unless explicitly enabled.
Derivis: create a derived theme
Use Derivis only when you intend to maintain your own theme configuration or overrides. Its documented platform is Grav 2, PHP ≥8.3, Admin2 2 and API 1. You need an installed compatible parent with a safely resolvable PHP theme class, and account permissions to read and create derived themes. Neither Modularis nor Thematis is required; Thematis is only one possible parent.
- Open Derivis, select an eligible installed parent and enter an unused technical name for the derived theme.
- Review the planned operations and confirm creation. The parent remains untouched; an existing target is not overwritten.
- On Done, open the generated theme in Themes and inspect its configuration. Creation does not activate it. Activation and checking the inherited frontend are separate deliberate steps.
